Yesterday I attended the Startup Grind Durham region spearheaded by Sherry Colbourne<\/a> CEO of Spark Centre, Oshawa with two electrifying guests Sean Sheppard<\/a> and Andrew Goldner<\/a> founders of GrowthX<\/a>. It was a rocking time full of bonhomie and nuggets of wisdom. Here’s one: the ‘Service as a software’ idea shared by Sean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

He suggests – start with a reverse path. Identify a problem and start a service around it. Keep deepening understanding as you serve diverse needs around your core proposition. With data on what your service flow looks like build a product that automates most of the process and that’s your saas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This makes such a lot of sense. It validates the need. It starts your revenue cycle, it gives you pain points and usability feedback. A lot of stories of how saas comes about are similar except most were developed to fix internal pain points. That certainly was the case for Pitch.Link. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both Andrew and Sean are super passionate about people, revenue, a VC: project fit, helping startups succeed and making VC more inclusive. Proof – 30% of their founders are female (valley average is 3%). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
