With technology near term is still viable. Long term &#8211; science, fiction and magic all mesh up to create a haze. Still experts like Ray Kurzweil do exceedingly well ( see my post #16) getting upwards of prediction right over the span of multiple decades. So I look out for these and enjoy doing mental checks based on what I know (which is not much). Which is also why reading about 10 predictions by MIT Technology Review for 2017  in Inc by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ACoAAAVyGD0BB28J7AFkUvXXv_E3u3IuLJrer90\/\">Jessica Stillman<\/a> makes for an interesting reading.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a sample of what to look out for: <br>&#8211; Reversing Paralysis : brain implants to cure spinal injuries.  <br>&#8211; Practical Quantum Computers : unimaginable power is now within reach. <br>&#8211; The Cell Atlas : What we really made of? <br>&#8211; Reinforcement Learning: how computers are learning on their own <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a lot more.
