Business Insider just released their UK Tech 100 list. It is an interesting mix of techies, VC’s, politicians, journalists and activists. Women feature in equal measure contrary to the normal discourse that tech is male dominated. Not so any more, at least on this list.
Sample these:
100. Holly H, Britain’s biggest TikTok star
87. Francis Gonzalez, the headteacher building gaming into the curriculum
85. Elizabeth Denham, the data cop holding Facebook’s feet to the flames
76. Nick Bostrom, the philosopher backed by Bill Gates and Elon Musk
71. Carole Cadwalladr, the Cambridge Analytica-breaking journalist
55. Vishal Chatrath, CEO of AI company Prowler.io
16. 15 year old Jaden Ashman became a millionaire playing video games
15. Poppy Gustafsson, the UK-based Darktrace co-CEO
4. Ophelia Brown, the young investor who set up her own fund
Top 3?
1. Nigel Toon, building a futuristic chip powerhouse
2. Maria Raga, boss of London’s trendiest marketplace that’s helping teens get rich
3. Tom Blomfield, neo-banker on a mission
Jony Ive comes in at No.19.
It is a delight reading through the profiles of this diverse group of people that now includes ethicists and philosophers.
