At the SaaSBooMi session this afternoon Vinod Muthukrishnan the Co-Founder and CEO of Cloud Cherry a customer analytics company – gave a ring side view of the learnings, difficult path to growth and rise, and the eventual acquisition by Cisco.
The key message was that the core job of the founder is to Evangelize. And continuously focus on biz dev. He detailed the start of his journey from Chennai in 2014 through to his acquisition in 2019 via Bangalore, San Francisco Bay Area, Salk Lake City and also the Utah model. He extolled the virtue of building relationship with large corporations like Microsoft and Cisco early on and making one’s presence known to the whale in the category.
It was an intensely candid story – open, vulnerable, brave and sans any pretensions. Much to learn.
Bonus tip: Keep an eye on the Fine Print in any contract or agreement that you sign.
