The Betts Recruiting Compensation Guide 2019 shows the current hiring pay for all levels of Sales, Marketing and People positions in the Tech Industry.
The typical compensation structure (Base + Commission) was 100% Salary + bonus for a Sales Ops role to a 50:50 (B+C) split for Enterprise sales. Typical SDR had a 60:40 split between salary and commissions.
In Marketing salary ranged from 80% (Demand Gen) to 90% (all other roles like Content and product marketer) and Sales Leadership – mostly at 50:50 except the SDR manager who had a 70:30 breakup.
What were the actuals?
– Average salary for Sales ranged from a base of $50-65K to On Target Earnings (OTE) of $75-95K for SDR’s, $70-90K and OTE of $140-180K for AE’s, $120-160K and OTE of $160-220K for Enterprise AE’s all the way up to $120-180K + 20% for Sales Engineers.
– Customer Success ranges from $70K to OTE of $120K going up to $100K to OTE of $185K for Sr. Account Managers.
Marketing started lower at $45K-60K range (Coordinator) to $140-180K for Demand Gen Director and PMM $120K-150K.
The study covers 5 markets of SFO, NY, Austin, Chicago and LA. The Data was collected from over 400 companies shows the average over a 12 month period.
